▸ How does it whiten — is there peroxide in it?
No peroxide. Pro Whitening polishes away surface stains using calcium carbonate, hydrated silica and a little sodium bicarbonate, while hydroxyapatite leaves the tooth surface smooth and glossy. It lifts everyday marks rather than bleaching the tooth itself.

▸ How long before I see a difference?
Stain removal is gradual — most people notice a change over a few weeks of twice-daily brushing rather than overnight. Because it works on surface staining, how quickly you see it depends on how much coffee, tea and red wine you drink.

▸ Hydroxyapatite and fluoride in the same paste — why both?
Most hydroxyapatite pastes ask you to give up fluoride to get them. PÄRLA includes both, so you get hydroxyapatite for everyday enamel care and a smooth finish, alongside the fluoride your dental professional has most likely already recommended.

▸ Does it contain fluoride?
Yes — as sodium monofluorophosphate, sitting alongside the hydroxyapatite. If you would rather skip fluoride altogether, our fluoride-free hydroxyapatite range has plenty of options.

▸ Is it gentle enough to use every day?
The polishing agents here are the mild kind used across everyday toothpastes, not the coarse abrasives found in some whitening products. Use a soft brush and light pressure, twice a day, and it is made for daily use.

▸ What are the vitamins doing in a toothpaste?
Vitamin E (tocopheryl acetate) and vitamin B12 (methylcobalamin) are part of PÄRLA's formulation. They are cosmetic ingredients in the paste — a toothpaste is not a supplement, and this is no substitute for getting either nutrient from your diet.

▸ What does it taste like, and what size is the tube?
Clean triple mint — arvensis, spearmint and peppermint oils with menthol — sweetened with xylitol and stevioside, no artificial sweeteners. The sodium bicarbonate gives it a slightly crisper edge than Bio Balance. 75ml aluminium tube.
