Rhubarb played for its tartness rather than its sugar sets the tone of this Marvis rhubarb toothpaste, with mint and menthol cooling the fruit inside a 75ml tube wrapped in red and green houndstooth. Marvis describes the fruit as aromatic and bitter and the mint as sharp, and the Sweet & Sour name supplies the rest. Expect the sour side of rhubarb, not the jam. Nothing from the rhubarb plant appears on the ingredient list; the fruit is carried by the flavouring.

For all the fruit on the label, this is a fluoride toothpaste by intention. Sodium fluoride, the fluoride source here, helps prevent tooth decay. The cleaning comes from calcium carbonate and hydrated silica, the full conventional foam from sodium lauryl sulfate, and the sweet half of the name from xylitol with sodium saccharin.
