Pairs well with

Cold mint, silver tube, a polishing brief.

Silver, unpatterned and capped in white, the full-size 85ml tube holds Marvis whitening toothpaste with a sharp, cold mint that the brand describes as polar. Menthol and peppermint oil are among its declared flavour components, alongside anethole, eugenol, limonene, pinene and orange peel oil. This is a strong mint, not a soft one.

The whitening comes from polishing, not bleaching. Calcium carbonate and hydrated silica are the cleaning agents, and with regular brushing they help lift surface stains gradually; Marvis says the formula pairs two silicas of different particle size. No peroxide appears in the ingredient list. It contains sodium fluoride, which helps prevent tooth decay. Sodium lauryl sulfate makes the foam here; xylitol, with sodium saccharin behind it, makes the paste sweet.

The Ludovico Martelli company bought Marvis in 1997, and the brand names Italy as where all of its toothpaste is produced. Black outlined lettering and an oval portrait of the figure Marvis calls its Marquis make up the decoration on the plain tube.

Smokers Whitening Mint uses the same ingredients plus PVP, a polymer, and is the version Marvis aims at smokers. Anyone who wants a Marvis mint without a whitening brief should look at Classic Strong Mint.

The Benefits.

  • Polishing, Not Bleaching — Calcium carbonate and hydrated silica polish the tooth surface, which helps lift surface stains gradually with regular brushing. There is no peroxide on the ingredient list.
  • Two Grades of Silica — Marvis says it blends two hydrated silicas of different particle size; on the ingredient list, both appear under the single entry Hydrated Silica.
  • A Strong, Cold Mint — Menthol and peppermint oil sit among the declared flavour components, behind a sensation Marvis calls polar: brisk and cold on the brush.
  • Contains Sodium Fluoride — It contains sodium fluoride, which helps prevent tooth decay. Whitening Mint is a fluoride toothpaste by design, for people who want fluoride and a polish in one tube.
  • Lather and Sweeteners — Sodium lauryl sulfate gives the lather of a conventional toothpaste, while xylitol with sodium saccharin provides the sweetness.
  • Concentrated Paste — Marvis describes its paste as old-style, rich and concentrated, which gives it a compact texture on the brush.
  • Made in Italy, 85ml — A full-size 85ml tube from Marvis, part of the Ludovico Martelli company since 1997; the brand says its toothpaste production is entirely Italian.

FAQ

▸ Does Marvis whitening toothpaste actually work?
It works by polishing. Calcium carbonate and hydrated silica help lift surface stains, such as those from coffee and tea, gradually and with regular brushing. There is no fixed timeline, and it acts on surface staining only: no peroxide, no bleaching.

▸ Does Marvis Whitening Mint contain fluoride?
Yes, it is a fluoride toothpaste by design. It contains sodium fluoride, which helps prevent tooth decay. Anyone who would rather skip fluoride has a separate collection of pastes on this site to choose from.

▸ Is Marvis Whitening Mint SLS-free?
Not SLS-free: the lather in this tube is made by sodium lauryl sulfate, so it foams the way a standard toothpaste does. Anyone who avoids SLS can browse the SLS-free collection on this site for pastes made without it.

▸ What does Marvis Whitening Mint taste like?
Cold and sharp. Marvis calls the sensation polar, and the declared flavour components include menthol, peppermint oil, anethole and orange peel oil. It is a strong mint rather than a mild one, sweetened with xylitol and saccharin, in an 85ml tube.

▸ What is the difference between Whitening Mint and Smokers Whitening Mint?
The ingredient lists match, except that Smokers Whitening Mint adds PVP, a polymer. Marvis names that version for smokers; Whitening Mint is the one to pick when coffee and tea are the main sources of staining. For a Marvis mint with no whitening angle, start with Classic Strong Mint.

▸ What are the ingredients in Marvis whitening toothpaste?
Glycerin, calcium carbonate, hydrated silica, water, flavour, xylitol, cellulose gum, titanium dioxide, trisodium phosphate, sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium saccharin and sodium fluoride, then declared flavour components such as menthol and peppermint oil. Titanium dioxide is included as a white pigment for colour; it is not a whitening agent.
