It is aromatic rather than sweet — a clean squeeze of lemon lifted by soft lavender, closer to something you would find on a kitchen bench than in a lolly jar.

Lemon leads: zesty, bright, the kind of flavour that wakes you up at the basin. Lavender sits underneath, taking the sharp edge off the citrus and giving the whole thing a rounded, faintly perfumed finish. How to use...

â–¸ What does Boka Lemon Lavender taste like?
Bright lemon with a soft floral lavender finish — aromatic rather than sweet, so it does not taste like a fruit lolly. A small amount of menthol gives a cool finish at the end, but the citrus and florals lead.

â–¸ Is it a mint toothpaste?
No. Lemon and lavender carry the flavour. There is a little menthol in the formula for a cool finish, so it is not entirely mint-free, but it tastes nothing like a conventional peppermint paste.

â–¸ How is it different from Boka's fruit flavours?
Watermelon Mint, Blueberry Dragon Fruit and Strawberry Mango are sweet and playful. Lemon Lavender is the aromatic, botanical option — closer to a culinary flavour than a confectionery one. The same n-Ha formula sits underneath all of them.

â–¸ Does it contain fluoride?
No. Boka uses nano-hydroxyapatite (n-Ha) in place of fluoride right across the toothpaste range. Lemon Lavender is fluoride-free, SLS-free and paraben-free.

â–¸ Does it whiten teeth?
It contains hydroxyapatite and hydrated silica, which gently polish away the surface stains left by coffee, tea and red wine. There is no peroxide in it, so expect a gradual change over a few weeks of twice-daily brushing rather than an overnight result.

â–¸ Are there any allergens I should know about?
The paste itself contains mango, avocado and cucumber fruit extracts. It is also made in a facility that handles peanuts, tree nuts, dairy, eggs and sunflower, so check the full ingredient list if you have an allergy.
